2017-10-01 Get Your Head in the Cloud
Growing up I often heard the phrase used, "Get your head out of the clouds". It was typically used to say "quit dreaming" or "get real". Granted there are times when we need to be realistic about getting a job done, or homework. Daydreaming or floating on air can interfere with our practical effectiveness. On the other hand, IN CHRIST, we need to get out of our worldly mindset and follow Paul's admonishment in Colossians; set our minds and hearts on things above where Christ is at the right hand of God. The message today is about the Israelites being IN the presence of God, but failing to embrace Him. It's about going with the crowd instead of going with God.

2017-09-27 The Story Beneath the Headlines
Most lawyers will tell you it is important to read the fine print. Yet, isn’t it amazing that lawyers write the small print? They know we are so quick to get on with things that we won’t pay attention to details. Like, how many of us know how much freedom we give a corporation when we download a “free” app? Now, I am even more concerned that very few Christians read the fine print. They hear FREE Gospel, but fail to comprehend that someone (Jesus Christ) paid dearly for it. He did make salvation free, but He also compelled His followers to freely share it if they completely accepted it. Matthew writes what Jesus said in MT 10 as He SENT His disciple/followers out to TELL OTHERS. He warned them, but sent them nonetheless. He reminded them in vs. 8; “Freely you have received, freely give.” After accepting the true Gospel of Jesus, we should all begin sharing it. If we don’t share, it probably indicates we didn’t fully receive. How can we receive it and not care that others are going to miss heaven?

2017-09-13 Don’t Just Read the Headlines of the GOOD NEWS
News"papers" don't sell as well as they used to prior to the electronic age. Now they're digital. Either way, many people don't really read it; they tend to read the headlines and not the details. That is unless they are passionate, pro or con, about the subject! When we are passionate, we tend to devour all the information we can get. This message is about the Good News, The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many have read the headlines and accept the forgiveness, but they aren't even passionate enough about Jesus, The Savior, to read the details about OUR part in the GOOD NEWS.

2017-08-30 Where We’ve Come; Death to Life
Jesus reached out to the Church at Sardis; the one that had a reputation of being “alive”, but was dead. The amazing grace of that is that He was still offering them life out of the death spiral they were in. What makes a dead Christian? It happens when we quit seeking, adoring, appreciating and living Christ Jesus. It usually isn’t sudden, but very gradual and out of presumption. It’s like what makes a child a spoiled brat? It’s when appreciation turns to presumption. Jesus tells the dead ones in Sardis to remember what they had received and heard (that which brought them to Christ in the beginning). Now, turn around and embrace the same Savior again. Paul’s words to the Ephesians in Chapter 2 explains it well; remember what you were like, how you used to live? The Grace and Mercy of Jesus gave you new life out of your old sin, so live in appreciation and gratitude of His Love…
